ULI Forte - UEFA Pro Licensed Football Coach

Coaching career Grasshopper Club Zurich

16th April 2012 - 30th June 2013

On 16th April 2012, Uli Forte took over as manager of Grasshopper Club Zürich, seven rounds before the end of the 2011/12 championship. These remaining seven matches resulted in just two draws and led to the team achieving eighth place overall.

However, Forte then had the chance to help reshape and prepare the team for the coming 2012/13 season – which was to become the most successful season in Forte's career as a young manager. He started by successfully integrating many talented young U21 players who have now moved on to major European leagues (Bürki at Borussia Dortmund; Zuber at 1899 Hoffenheim; Hajrovic at Werder Bremen, on loan at SD Eibar; Abrashi at SC Freiburg; and Michael Lang at FC Basel). At the end of the season, this resulted in the team – the youngest in the 2012/13 season – winning the Raiffeisen Super League U21 Trophy. Grasshopper Club Zürich finished the championship as the runner-up, three points behind the series champion, FC Basel. The team's biggest success, however, was in the Swiss Cup, where they brought their first cup title in 19 years back to Zurich after the final against FC Basel.
